Impossible Channel Lineups
Some unscrupulous sellers will try to lie and say that channels such as Fox Business, CNN or ESPN are available with an over-the-air antenna. Inform yourself which channels are even possible with an antenna, and don't fall for these blatant lies anymore.
What types of channels are available with an antenna?
Only local TV broadcast stations are available with an OTA antenna. The best way to determine what is available is to use a service like DTV Gov Maps. That site and similar services like TV Fool and AntennaWeb will take your home location and predict which channels you can receive with different types of antennas.
Since about 90% of the US is within range of at least one major TV channel, you will usually see channels like CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, CW, Telemundo, PBS, Univision and MyNetworkTV.
Other lesser known channels like CTV and CityTV (Canada), Ion, Qubo, Home Shopping Network, Comet, MeTV, DECADES, Cozi and This TV can be available as subchannels. Subchannels are multicasted along with other major stations. This means that if your local CBS station is 2.1, then you may have a DECADES station listed as 2.2.
But they say Fox Business / CNN / ESPN / TBS is available...
Many times sellers of antennas will make claims that their antennas can capture certain Cable TV-only channels. This is 1000% false, and if you spot any of these listings, stay far away. They are either doing this out of ignorance or because they know you as a potential cord cutter want all the channels you've had before with Cable.
If any of the channels below are listed as "available" with a certain OTA antenna, do not trust that seller.
